You arrive at the scene of an incident. A casualty has an injured arm that's bleeding heavily. What could you do to help while waiting for the emergency services to arrive?
DVSA explanation
You should first protect yourself from exposure to blood - many first-aid kits contain surgical gloves. To stem the flow of blood, you should apply firm pressure over the wound. If there's an object in the wound, you'll need to build up padding on either side and make sure you do not press on the object.
