Information Signs
Information signs tell drivers, riders and pedestrians about road layouts, facilities, parking areas,
the road ahead, and other helpful guidance on UK roads. This page explains what these information signs mean, how to
recognise them quickly, and links to every individual road sign in this category so you can revise them for your car theory test, motorcycle theory test, HGV / LGV theory test, PCV
theory test, or ADI Part 1 theory test.

What are information signs?
Information signs are part of the UK road and traffic sign system used to give drivers and riders clear, helpful
details about the road ahead, nearby facilities and how the road is organised. They help you understand where you
can park, which lanes to use, and when restrictions start or end, so you can plan your journey safely and
confidently.
You'll usually see:
- Parking information signs showing where you can park and any conditions that apply.
- Lane and traffic information signs explaining how lanes are used, where routes diverge and
when restrictions end.
- Local information signs such as signs for town centres, industrial areas, tourist information
and special routes.
Understanding these information signs is essential if you regularly drive on unfamiliar roads, in busy towns and
cities or near key facilities - and they can all appear in your DVSA driving theory test and hazard perception
test.
